Installing speed cushions

Speed Cushions

Thank you to those who provided feedback, both at the residents meeting and also through our resident’s survey.

Following the feedback we received, we are looking to install speed cushions along Toi Toi Street (between Montreal Road and Abraham Heights) for a 12-month trial.

Speed cushions are designed to have a low impact on wide vehicles (i.e. buses), whilst smaller vehicles (i.e. passenger cars) will need to slow down to drive over them.

The aim of this 12-month trial is to reduce vehicle speeds along Toi Toi Street, without the need to remove any on-street parking spaces, or cause problems with the existing bus route.

The specific locations (in the image above) have been selected based on certain requirements including :

  • Not directly adjacent to high usage driveways where possible;
  • Locating them under existing or proposed streetlights, to improve traffic safety;
  • Complying with the minimum and maximum spacing requirements for speed humps.

We are looking to install these trial cushions in June. Thank you to everyone's patience while this work is underway.
