Centennial Park Pump Station underway

15 June 2022

Ching Contracting Ltd has been contracted by Nelson City Council to upgrade the Centennial Park stormwater pump station. This work will include removing and replacing roof panels and lids, installing a 3-metre diameter stormwater filtration system (Downstream Defender), and installing a new pump and connecting pipework.

They will be setting up on-site on Tuesday 7 June 2022, and work will begin shortly afterwards.

The project is expected to be completed in October 2022 (subject to weather).

As part of the project, the contractor will need to shutdown water connections to relocate the existing watermain. If your property will be affected they will be in touch directly with you before this happens.

During the project, signage will be put up directing pedestrians to the opposite side of the road, away from the work site. Road closure signs and cones designating no parking areas will also be in place throughout the duration of the works.

This work is part of the wider upgrade in the Tahunanui Reserve area.
