Stormwater upgrade to begin in January

17 December 2024

The stormwater network around Strawbridge Square needs to be upgraded, as flooding can occur in heavy rainfall in the corner of the carpark.

Work will begin on 13 January 2025.

Upgrading the size of stormwater pipes will reduce the chance of flooding occurring, protecting properties in the area and making sure water flows where it needs to go.

Stage One - 13 January

This work will require a lane closure on Songer Street. Eastbound traffic (towards Main Road Stoke) will be detoured along Neale Ave and Putaitai Street connecting to Main Road Stoke.

Traffic will continue to flow from Main Road Stoke onto Songer Street in the opposite direction. This stage will take approx. two weeks.

Stage Two

Stage two will require a lane shift to keep Songer Street open in both directions.

A temporary footpath will be in place around the worksite. This stage will take approx. two weeks.
