Potholing investigation

27 October 2022

WHAT STRAWBRIDGE SQUARE STORMWATER UPGRADE
WHEN ONE WEEK FROM THURSDAY 27 OCTOBER 2022
TRAFFIC PEDESTRIAN RESTRICTIONS WILL BE IN PLACE

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

There has been ongoing flooding issues in the southwestern corner of Strawbridge Square. Nelson City Council is investigating upgrading the stormwater system that is currently in this location.

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

Before we do the upgrade, we need to confirm the location of the current pipes and services. This is done through creating multiple small investigation holes in the road using a hydrovac (a jet of water to dig down to the pipes). Gathering this information will help us to complete the final design for the stormwater upgrade.

DURATION:

Investigations will take one week from the 27 October 2022 (subject to weather). Neale Avenue intersection works will be carried out during the evening of the 31 October 2022, all other works will be during the day.

There will be some disruption during the investigation works. Please expect and plan for the following:
Temporary closure to the entrance from Songer Street to Strawbridge Square carpark
