Work down in the Chamber

25 August 2023

The work on the St Vincent Street infrastructure upgrade project has been progressing well. The sheet piling operation has been completed with sheet piles installed around the perimeter of the excavation.

Construction of the underground Stormwater Mixing Chamber:

A lot of the construction activity taking place is not visible to the public (as it is occurring out of sight below road level within the large Mixing Chamber hole!). We can assure you that we are making good progress.

The precast concrete panel walls of the mixing chamber have been installed, and the in-situ concrete floor slab is currently being completed.

The focus for work over the next month includes:

  • Completing construction of the in-situ concrete floor within the underground mixing chamber.
  • Removal of props supporting the concrete panel walls.
  • Installation of the 1800mm & 1200mm diameter pipe starters into the mixing chamber.
  • Commence backfilling and removal of sheet piles.
  • Installation of water sluice valves
  • This work on St Vincent Street is scheduled to be completed in late November 2023.
