Current Status: Stage 2.

Following on from the work in Hastings Street, work can get underway on a planned infrastructure upgrade in St Vincent Street.

This work is essential to realise the benefits of the work that has already been completed in the area.

This project involves upgrading sewer pipes, stormwater pipes, and connection chambers. These pipes and chambers are located in the road, and so there will be significant disruption as we work to replace them.

We are working with Nelson Electricity to install an upgraded powerline in the road while this work is underway, so roads don’t have to be closed in the future.

This project is expected to start on 11 April 2023 and will continue for 7 months. We did investigate options to not close the road, but these were more costly, and would mean the disruption to residents and businesses would be for a lot longer.
