The next step for us to understand the scope of work required for Stage 2 of the Rutherford Street stormwater upgrade is to test the underlying soil conditions.

This investigation work will start on Waimea Road on Tuesday 6 October 2020. The work will involve drilling into a section of the road, adjacent to the Nelson College for Girls playing field.

The drilling allows contractors to collect samples to determine the underlying soil conditions in the area. This will assist with the design of the Rutherford Street Stormwater Upgrade project.

Work is expected to occur between 8 am and 4 pm each day, and will be complete by the end of the week. The key thing to note is that there will be single lane traffic management in place, so delays are expected.

The timing of this work has been scheduled to occur during the school holidays to minimise disruption.
