Ching Contracting Ltd will be working with Nelson City Council to install water and wastewater pipes between Nile Street East and Ralphine Way. The pipes vary in size from 180mm to 400mm.

This work will also include installing ducts for communication cables.

We will be establishing onsite on Monday 1^st December with pipe delivery and minimum work taking place before Christmas.

No works will take place between 19^th December and 11^th January.

Full site establishment will commence on Monday 12^th January 2026, and excavations will begin shortly afterwards.

During the project, traffic management will be spilt into three stages.

• Stage One will consist of a 3-way stop/go managed by traffic lights at the intersection of Nile Street East and Maitai Road. Once we’ve finished work in the intersection, the stop/go traffic light system will move entirely onto Maitai Road.
• Stage Two will be a combination of a 3-way stop/go traffic lights on Ralphine Way.
• Stage Three will involve a 2-way traffic light system in Maitai Valley Road.
