Gloucester, Konini and Mount Street Upgrade

Our Smart Little City of Nelson needs some upgrades and improvements to its infrastructure.

The Konini and Mount Street area is due for an upgrade. This means we will be upgrading the water and stormwater pipes and putting power lines underground. When the street upgrade is complete, households will have a reliable supply of water and be in a better position to manage large rainfall events.

When the pipe work is completed under the road, we will also look at resurfacing it. We will also use this opportunity to see how we can make the street safer for pedestrians and families.

With a project of this size the work will be done in stages, with the majority of it happening in 2022/23. We wanted to let you know the plan as early as possible.

The first stages of the upgrade will kick off over the next few weeks. You may see surveyors working in the area, and we will also carry out some potholing to confirm the exact location of existing underground services.

There are times when the work will be inconvenient to you, and while the piping and resurfacing work is being done it can be disruptive. We will notify you when major work is planned in your part of the street and will try to minimise the impact on you where we can.
