Getting a helping hand

16 December 2020

The green-fingered residents of Kawai Street were lending a hand to plant out the planter boxes, as Stage 1 of the Innovating Streets project continues.

The 4-way stop at Tukuka and Kawai Street has been completed, speed humps installed, astroturf and planter boxes have been placed and plants have been planted.

Safety posts are also being put in between the planter boxes to act as an additional barrier between the astroturfed areas and the road.

As this project continues we are continually looking to make sure it is safe and appropriate for all users. Although the purpose of the project is to try and make the area more people-friendly, everyone still needs to be careful near roads.

A big thank you to all those residents that have helped out to date.
