Making the changes permanent

3 July 2023

WHAT ARE WE DOING:

  • This work is to complete the permanent closure of the access onto Hampden Street (West) from Waimea Road. New safety features will be installed for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as a “Hammer Head” turning pocket.

WHY ARE WE DOING IT:

  • The purpose of these works is to improve the safety for all road users in this area. The permanent closure of this intersection improves traffic flows during peak times and the “Hammer Head” turning pockets will make it safer for vehicles to turn around at the closure point.

DURATION:

  • Work will begin in early-July and is expected to take around 4 weeks to complete (weather dependent).

TRAFFIC CONDITIONS:

  • There will be a road closure in place to carry out the works. Residents’ access will be maintained for the duration of works. Please see our contractor on site should you have any concerns.
