The East-West cycle link is a project to create an active travel link from the Maitai in the east to the Railway Reserve corridor in the west.

It was outlined in the Long Term Plan 2024-2034.

This project aims to improve cycle connections across the city and address safety for cyclists using the route. The route encompasses five schools and Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology.

The East-West cycle link was originally part of NZTA's Transport Choices.

We are currently seeking feedback from school communities between Nile Street and Waimea Road to let us know how they currently use the area.
