It’s been a busy—and at times noisy—second week on Bridge Street, and we’d like to thank everyone for their patience as work continues between Trafalgar and Collingwood Streets.

Crews have installed and backfilled the two large manholes, one outside Victus Coffee and the other near the Collingwood Street intersection. These will allow future access to the historic brick-lined sewer for lining and future inspections.

The team also removed around six tonnes of silt from inside the brick barrel and nearly completed a detailed survey to record its dimensions and condition. This work will help determine the size of the liner to be installed later in the year.

Meanwhile, trenching for the new 11kV power cable is progressing well along the southern side of the street.

There will be no work over Labour Weekend, giving crews and nearby residents a short break before work resumes next week.
