Work continues on Parkers Road

8 November 2022

Progress to install the new drainage pipes down Parkers Road has been slower than expected, with challenging ground conditions meaning sheet piles are needed. These sheet piles protect the trench we dig, so that it is safe for our workers to install the new pipe work.

We want to minimize the disruption to residents, so have been looking at ways to speed up this work.

The safest way to do this is to close Parkers Road during the daytime. This will give us more room to work, allowing us to bring our truck alongside the work area, which will be safer and more efficient.

The improved efficiency would mean that the road will be impacted for a reduced amount of time, minimizing the overall disruption to residents.

We are proposing to close the blue section (in addition to the yellow area highlighted above) from 7:30 am each morning. We would reopen the blue section by 6 pm each day, leaving just the yellow section closed in the evenings, during weekends and on public holidays.

If you live within the closure area, we will do our best to provide you access. We would need some advanced notice and it may just take a few minutes to move our trucks around to let you in or out. We will also work with affected residents to make sure that rubbish and recycling bins can be collected and returned on the relevant days.

At this stage, we would be looking to implement this closure system starting 14 November 2022 (pending Council approvals) up until the Christmas Break (22 December 2022). We will be aiming to get our works progressed to the Golf-Parkers intersection by this time but would need to review progress at the end of the year.

We may still need to implement this closure arrangement again when we return to work on 9 January 2023.
