Strategic Planning - Seeking guidance and support for actions supporting Active Transport and Modal Shift.
Outcomes: Councillors have encouraged us to develop an Active Transport Strategy. The Strategy must include a list of projects for inclusion in the 2021 Transport Activity Management Plan.

Incorporating Nelson Future Access Project Outcomes
From August 2020 to May 2021 community feedback and stakeholder input will help identify a preferred long-term package and a refined short term package. There will be further community engagement in May.
We are using this time to analyse the feedback we have received to develop the Strategy and a works programme that we feel will be supported by the community.

A chance to discuss the progress of the strategy with local stakeholders and experts.

Update Active Transport Network Maps
We are working with our GIS team to update our maps to provide clear information to the public about where there are safe walking and cycling routes. We will also be identifying gaps in the network and planning projects which will fix these missing links.

NFA recommended package announcement
Late 2021 - This recommended package will inform NCC’s Long-term Plan as well as Waka Kotahi’s National Land Transport Programme. By late 2021 funding decisions will be made and we should have an idea on what major Active Travel Projects will be delivered. In the background we will be working on the community level projects that make the whole thing come together with a focus on safety and access initiatives.

Take feedback from Council Workshop and the final PRG meeting and write up the final draft strategy. Bring to Council for approval to go out to public consultation
