Tahunanui Slump - Resident Update 4

8 September 2022

Kia ora,

Late yesterday we were able to share information with other affected residents throughout Nelson about the steps required to change placard colours (if it is safe to do so).

We have attached this information, so you can see it too (it is also online at http://www.nelson.govt.nz/services/weather-event-august-2022/information-for-property-owners-with-red-and-yellow-placards/.

This is essentially the same information that we have already shared with you, as you understand the need for ground, building and services to be safe and useable before re-assessments can occur.

Services checks:

The service checks are well underway, with a few challenges clearing the large slip on Grenville Terrace to access the manhole there. We are still on track to complete this inspection work by the end of this week. We have sourced additional inspection crews from Blenheim and another from Christchurch to speed up this work.

Please remember if faults are found then repairs will be required. Once everything is checked and confirmed that it is okay, then we can get the building team back in there to carry out their inspections.

Meeting reminder:

There will be a Tahunanui Slump resident meeting tonight, starting at 5pm at the Beachside Conference Centre, 70 Beach Road.

We will have a range of experts available to talk to you about the current status of our recovery, and to connect you with insurance representatives.

This is a meeting for you only – and separate to the meeting for the rest of the affected properties in Nelson (which is on Friday). We understand that a couple of you are out of town, and so have created a Zoom link so that you can watch online tonight.

Please do not share this link to people who live outside of the Tahunanui Slump, as this meeting focuses on you and your properties.

We hope to see you there,

Take care,

Ngā mihi,

The Recovery Team
