The work on Hastings Street continues, with the installation of the 1.8m diameter stormwater pipe. This is a massive job, slowed by the need to remove contaminated soils as we go.

The stormwater work will be continuing up to Christmas, along with installing parts of the new watermain, connections to houses and installing new footpaths and berms.

Changes to Car Parking Access :

Starting on Wednesday 16 November 2022 we will need to restrict vehicle access to both the temporary car park and the Pioneer Park car park used by Community Groups.

Full temporary road closures (represented by the colours RED, GREEN & BLUE in the picture below) will be in place for the dates indicated.

The remainder of Hastings Street and Pioneer Crescent will be open to residents only.

While the construction works block access to specific residential driveways and the car parking areas within Pioneer Park, residents are asked to temporarily park elsewhere.

Residents who can park off-street on their properties are requested to do so, as this will free up on-street parking spaces for other residents who are affected by these works.

Secondary Athletics Centre entrance – OPEN (only during Community Group operating hours with a trained Traffic controller in place to manage access.)

Stage 3 (Blue) - From Friday 2 December until Friday 23 December

Christmas / New Year Period

Construction activities along Hastings Street will pause over the Christmas break (from 23 December 2022 until the 9 January 2022).

Our contractor (Tasman Civil Ltd) will leave the Hastings Street construction site in a safe state during this period, before recommencing work on Monday 9 January 2023.

It is currently proposed to leave the temporary road closure in place in Hastings Street over the Christmas / New Year period.

Expected Completion Date

The temporary road closure in Hastings Street is required to remain in place till May 2023, at which time construction works are expected to be completed.
