Breaking through the seawall

4 May 2021

Last week we managed to carefully break through the seawall so that the contractor to install the new larger culverts.

Of the three culverts, two have proven to be a little more challenging due to the thickness of the seawall being greater than the original designs. The old culverts were installed over 80 years ago, and it is reassuring to see the construction of the surrounding seawall is more robust than anticipated.

This week the contractor will be backfilling the holes and pouring concrete. This will be followed by tidying up the road surface by the wall to be smooth again for users.

The planned night works are still scheduled to begin from Sunday 9 May. This work is expected to take 4 - 5 nights, depending on weather conditions.
