Moving to Stage Two

28 February 2024

With our contractor ahead of schedule, Motueka Street and Franklyn Street are back to two way traffic.

Work now moves to stage two, which is focusing on Tipahi Street. The first step is to widen the pathway along Tipahi Street. For this work to be safely completed, one side of Tipahi Street will need to be closed. This will mean Tipahi Street will be one way.

Vehicles will not be able to turn from Motueka Street onto Tipahi Street. Please use Franklyn Street to access Nelson Hospital. We expect this diversion to be in place for one week, ending Thursday 7 March.

What are we doing?

  • Installing raised crossings at the intersection of Franklyn Street and Tipahi Street
  • Creating a shared path from Motueka Street to Franklyn Street
  • Installing raised crossings at the intersection of Franklyn Street and Kawai Street

These measures are being installed as a trial, and we will continue to ask for feedback from residents and users.
