Construction of the Cambria Track, connecting to the Sir Stanley Whitehead walkway is complete and the track is open!

The track will provide an alternative route in the dry season (in case of fire) and enables a shorter loop from Centre of NZ or Founders. The new track connects to Sir Stanley Whitehead track from the north, and to Botanical Hill to the south. If you're keen to check out the new path, be aware there are approx 100 stairs at the bottom off Cambria Street.

If you are out walking the path, please note there are sheep grazing, so please keep dogs on leash!

Work has begun on a new walking track connecting the eastern end of Cambria Street to the Sir Stanley Whitehead Park walkway.

Not only will this walking track add to Nelson’s extensive track network, it will also provide an additional exit from the reserve area in the event of a fire.

Due to the steep terrain, the route will include a combination of benched pathway and steps.

This work will take approximately three months to complete.
