Project Complete
We are upgrading the pedestrian crossing where the Railway Reserve crosses Songer Street. This work will include installing a concrete raised table and concrete footpath extensions, painting a pedestrian crossing, and installing crossing point lights.
This work aims to improve the safety of the Railway Reserve for both pedestrians and cyclists. We’ve had feedback that vulnerable users (e.g. children, elderly, and cyclists) feel unsafe crossing Songer Street, especially due to speeds along this section of the road.
Work will begin late May 2023 and is expected to take around eight weeks to complete (weather dependent).
There will be a single-lane closure in place with a detour via Black St, Andrew St, and Neale Ave. For a short time there was a closure of the Railway Reserve, with a pedestrian detour in place via Black Street and Andrew Street. This has now been completed.
