During the August 2022 extreme weather event, a landslip from public land occurred above 16 Atmore Terrace. The road was closed, and later reopened with restricted road use. This slip jeopardised access to both private property and essential infrastructure services.
The site was prioritised given the high degree of ongoing risk posed to the area without remediation. The preferred solution to remediate the landslip included:
- Excavating and re-contour the slip scarp and headscarp
- Soil nail and shotcrete the landslip face
- Install a ground beam to the outside shoulder of the road and repair/resurface the road.
This work was undertaken from August to October 2023.
During the detailed investigation stage, further shoulder slumping was identified in the road directly below the slip.
The current work is looking to address this identified area. Work started on 4 March 2024.
This current stage of work involves driving piles into the area and thickening the shoulder to support the carriageway.
