To keep our city running the way we need it to, we need to make sure that our infrastructure network is up to scratch. We have a programme of network renewals where we regularly check pipes and then replace those that need replacing.

We also try to coordinate work, so that we minimise the disruption to residents in the area. We are about to carry out some roading work to the Nayland Road/Songer Street roundabout in late July 2023. There is an ageing watermain that runs through this area that is earmarked to be replaced. To make sure we carry out these jobs efficiently, we are planning to do both projects together.

The proposed watermain works will start in early July 2023 and last around 2 weeks. Once the watermain works are complete we will then proceed with the roundabout changes which will take around 1 week to complete.

We will do our best to make sure we minimise any disruption while this work occurs. There will be lane diversions, speed restrictions, noise, and vibrations as we dig up the old pipe and replace it with a new pipe.

We will shortly be carrying out some investigation work to make sure we have the information we need to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.
