Nelsonians love walking and cycling along side our beautiful Maitai/Mahitahi River. We've planned to upgrade the section between Collingwood Street and Bridge Street for some time, and we are lucky enough to receive Provincial Growth funding to get this underway sooner than expected.
This 2.5 metre wide path, along with new seating and planting will make it even more enjoyable to spend time alongside our river.
This project will help fund 10 jobs, bring much needed money into Nelson's economy as we look to recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
Stage 2 (from Bridge Street to Nile Street), is still planned for 2024/2025.
Update 1 October 2020 - This project is now complete, and everyone can now enjoy this amazing shared pathway.
