Progress results for the 2022 Nelson City Council election.

This result is based upon the counting of approximately 90% of the returned voting papers. The progress result does not include some special votes and voting papers returned Saturday that are still in transit to the processing centre.

UPDATE 10am 9 October.

We have been advised that an unusually high number of votes were cast around the country on Saturday, so the outcomes below may change for some vacancies once all voting papers have been counted.

The large number of votes still to be counted means that preliminary voting results will be delayed. It may be late Sunday or early Monday before results can be posted here. Final results (which includes some special votes) will be posted later this week.

The voter return so far is 45.16%, being 17,737 voting papers. This excludes voting papers in transit to the processing centre and special votes.

Watch our animation for a refresher on how the results are decided using Single Transferable Vote (STV).
