Have your say on the Joint Regional Spatial Plan
Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council are working together on a Joint Regional Spatial Plan. This is a long-term, 30-year framework that will help guide how our combined region grows and changes.
Why this matters
Developing the plan is a chance to look past individual projects and immediate pressures. It lets us consider how housing, communities, infrastructure, transport, the economy, the environment, and resilience can work together, so our region is well planned and ready for the future.
Your knowledge can help shape the plan
People and organisations who live, work, and contribute across Nelson-Tasman hold valuable knowledge about our communities. You understand their strengths, challenges, opportunities, and aspirations better than anyone.
We want this knowledge to inform the draft Joint Regional Spatial Plan. We also want to make sure the interests and distinctive character of both Nelson and Tasman are recognised in the plan.
Tell us how you can contribute
Tasman District Council is hosting a short Expression of Interest survey that will help the two councils understand:
- the knowledge, experience, and perspectives you can contribute to regional spatial planning
- the issues, opportunities, and priorities you think should be considered as the plan is developed
- how you would like to be involved as the draft plan takes shape
Your answers will help us build an engagement approach that makes good use of your knowledge, experience, and networks, with meaningful ways for you to contribute as the plan is drafted.
This survey is not formal consultation on the Regional Spatial Plan. It is a chance to help us engage with you in the right way once drafting begins.
