Nelson City Council Te Kaunihera o Whakatū is currently seeking nominations for its Community Investment Funding (CIF) Panel, with four community representative positions available.

This is an opportunity to bring your on-the-ground knowledge to support community organisations working with our most vulnerable communities in Nelson. Panel members say:

It’s a real privilege to be able to give back to the Nelson community by providing my unique perspective and insights into our amazing community groups. Local Government funding can mean a big difference to those groups who are often overlooked by central government’

Panel members will ideally reflect a broad cross section of the community, and have a good knowledge of the community sector, especially those that work with people experiencing loneliness and social isolation, housing issues, and poverty related issues.

The Panel is responsible for reviewing applications and allocating funding to community organisations on behalf of Council’s Community and Recreation Committee.

  • There are up to four Panel meetings a year, with times scheduled to accommodate members’ availability.
  • Panel members receive meeting fees to compensate them for their time.
  • The term for the Panel is three years.

You can nominate yourself or anyone else in the community that you think would be suitable for the panel.
