The Bell Island wastewater treatment plant has the capacity to treat sewage to the equivalent to that generated by a domestic population of around 133,000 people!

We're opening the doors to the public so you can see how we manage the regions waste.

  • Bell Island is an operational wastewater treatment facility, and visitors must follow staff instructions at all times.
  • Visitors must remain with their tour group and within designated areas.
  • The site includes open wastewater treatment ponds and operational infrastructure.
  • The tour may include uneven surfaces and walking between different areas of the plant.
  • Anyone with specific accessibility requirements should let us know when registering.
  • For this event, attendance is limited to adults and teenagers (13 years and older).
