City for All Ages Strategy
This strategy has a vision that a City for All Ages is: An age-friendly community that values the experience and wisdom of all people.
The City For All Ages/He Rautaki Whakatupuranga Strategy was endorsed by Council in December 2021. Thanks to the hard work of the Community Steering Group that developed the strategy, and the input of many individuals, community groups and agencies, Nelson has a strategy it can be proud of.
Nelson is now applying to become a member of the World Health Organisation Age-Friendly Network. As a member of the network, our community will have access to a vast array of resources and support that the network offers.
An Implementation Group of community members will be encouraging, supporting and reporting on achievement of the actions set out in the Strategy. However, these actions are just the starting point. The Strategy is a living document, and the aim is that it will continue to develop and acquire new actions.
